It Contractors

If you are working as a contractor in the IT sector, or any other business, it is important to ensure that the way you are paid is organised in the most tax efficient way possible. If contracts and payment methods are not correctly arranged, there is the danger of a claim from HMRC under the provisions of IR35, alleging you are a “disguised employee” and therefore liable to pay higher tax and National Insurance contributions.

At Alexander Ene, we have extensive experience in this area, and will advise on the preferred solution for each individual’s circumstances.

Limited company
Establishment of a limited company is one option, with the company charging for the contractor’s services, and the contractor being a director of the company. We will register, manage and run the company, complying with all Companies House regulations and filings, and providing full accounting support as required. When correctly set up, this environment can be a highly tax efficient way of handling contractor arrangements.

Umbrella company
If you do not want to go to the trouble of having your own company, then an alternative is to be paid via Alexander Ene’s own umbrella company. The company issues invoices and ensures payment, and takes responsibility for all matters of corporate and tax compliance, with yousimply receiving your income, paid regularly on a net basis.

If you are concerned that your current contracting arrangements are not as tax effective as they should be, or if you are operating as self-employed, then call us today to review the alternatives, on 020 8343 2626.
